FCC & Related Forms

admin's picture

This page will deal with the FCC forms themselves.

Initially I will just post the PDF version of the forms here. Tack progress reports, comments and questions about the forms here.

Form 160 is the form to obtain an FCC ID which can be used to work (on-line) on the actual license request form.

Form 340 is the THE form of forms.

The filing window announcement is the actual announcement from the FCC that there will be an NCE (NonCommercial Enterprise) licensing competion opportunity Oct 12-17, 2007.

These FCC forms are public and can be circulated freely.

Then there are the three maps from Mike Brown, our engineering consultant. I'll post them here too since they'll have to accompany the final application to the FCC.

He recommends that we apply for the 88.1MHz frequency/channel which is available in our area. He proposes one of the towers at Cape Foul Weather be used to broadcast the 1 kW signal and the maps show, in various ways, the reach of the main signal and how its coverage fits in among the pre-existing broadcasters on 88.1 MHz and 1st, 2nd and 3rd adjacent channels.

Consider these maps proprietary and do not forward (without reason or careful forethougt) to anyone outside this group at this time.

  • nce newport 88.1mhz 1kw da1 contours.pdf : maps all current potentially conflicting FM radio signals in our immediate area
  • nce newport 88.1mhz 1kw da1 contour zoom.pdf : depicts the prime coverage area of the proposed station overlayed on a map of our region.
  • nce newport 88.1mhz 1kw da1 longley rice.pdf : shows the predicted signal strength of the proposed station across our local region

August 30 update:

It seems that another radio station is making a move for the 88.1 frequency, KQAC from Gleneden Beach, a repeater for the Portland Oregon classical music station KBPS.

Mike Brown is recommending trying for a 500W station at 91.7mHz. The revised contours and 307b numbers are in the following three files:

  • 307b ch219 500w 082907.txt : the exhibit justifying 307b exemptions (this is comparable to the similar doco for the 88.1 proposal).
  • nce_newport_91.7mhz_500w_da.pdf : revised contours for 91.7/500 watts
  • nce_newport_91.7mhz_500w_da_zoom.pdf : closeup of the above contour map
  • nce_newport_91.7mhz_500w_da_LR.pdf : new longly-rice projection
